1877 - Cheshire County Atlas
Cheshire County was one of only two counties in New Hampshire that were mapped in the 1880’s, by C.H. Rockwood. The “Atlas of Cheshire County” is unusual in that it is not north oriented like the other maps. Instead, the western boundary is on the top.
It shows many new names and, for the first time, two of the villages are designated as post office sites.
The population of Chesterfield was 1,173 in 1880.
